Phillipe Coudari creates figures out of bronze that are angular, powerful and dynamic. Coudari’s work combines the distinctness of linear strength with the softer, more elusive character of subtle emotions. His figures stare at the viewer with an internal gaze, their suggestive poses stirring the viewer’s personal memories and imagination. Coudari always gives his works titles “for practical reasons,” but he does so reluctantly, as he wishes that no outside perspective will interfere with the viewer’s personal reaction to the work. Coudari uses a stick as a tool as a modeling technique.Though Coudari is fascinated by the human form, he rarely uses a live model, relying instead on his intuition. Coudari’s artistry displays a stunning faithfulness of his belief in the inherent beauty of the human body and soul. Phillipe Coudari has exhibited his work throughout Europe and Canada. He currently lives and works in Montreal.
