With all the beauty of complexity, Bulgarian artist Georgi Baylov dashes colors over dramatically large canvases. Whether painting figuratively or symbolically, Baylov’s images have the ability to take on larger-than-life personas, like a fork growing to pitchfork-like stature next to a lemon. Other times, they are so abstract that they look like bits of confetti thrown into the air and frozen in time and space. Baylov’s works are forces to be reckoned with, bold and energetic. His short brushstrokes create a frenzy of movement in the paint. Yet, he just as masterfully whips the brush around to stir in more meditative arcs. Cyber blues soak Baylov’s canvas. Red, orange, and rust erupt like lava. Usually relegated to the background, white makes a tidal-wave splash over all the other colors.
Georgi Baylov received his MA from the Veliko Tarnovo University “St. Kiril and Metodii”. He is a member of the Association of Plovdiv artists and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Pazardjik artists.
