Lily David’s unusual mixed medium compositions are a beautiful blurring of the line between sculpture, painting, and collage. These interdisciplinary works- abstracted visions of color, shape, and texture- reveal the complexity of the life, thoughts, and spirit of the artist. Although David’s works of art can easily be appreciated for their innovative construction and resulting aesthetic splendor, understanding of her abstract pieces is further heightened by awareness of the artist’s own story. Her works reflect the influence of the landscapes and the variety of nature textures of the desert. David resolves the daily struggles of life through visual means with flavor of optimism. Although her works relate directly to her own personal experiences, they posses a universal appeal. In this way, the artist’s works deny the viewer a passive role in looking at her works. Instead, they must reflect upon their own lives and contemplate their own feelings and beliefs.
Born in Mexico, living today in Israel. An art teacher, mother and wife, the artist has exhibited throughout Israel and Paris.
