Growing up in the picturesque French alpine village on the shores of Lac d’Annecy, Mary Mansey has had a life-long devotion to exploring the beauty of natural world. Her crisp photographs features rugged cliffs and peaceful reeds, grasses, and forests situated around bodies of water. She employs severe cropping and unusual perspectives to emphasize the wonderful light and reflections made possible by moving water. Her art has an emotional quality to it, instilled by her own personal struggles in love and life. "I try to capture the strange echoing silence of drifting on a lake," she says, "the impossible stillness of the current." Mansey’s photographs seek to transmit the contemplative ambience offered by a tranquil natural setting, in the belief that art can function as a catalyst for well-being.
Her travels to various towns and cities around the Mediterranean have had a great influence on Mansey’s artistic interests. Mary Mansey currently resides in the French Alps town of Aix-les-Bains, and works as a graphic designer for several prestigious French companies.
